We’re excited to announce our newest addition to the KMHD DJ roster - Anthony Valadez! His new show, Sounds for Plant Lovers, will air Mondays-Thursdays from 11:00 p.m. to midnight on KMHD. Valadez makes his long-awaited return to radio this week with a broad mix of tunes that puts yet another personal spin on the Jazz Without Boundaries sound.
Sounds for Plant Lovers is the intersection of all things juxtaposed, but rooted in jazz.
Tasty treats and lo-fi beats served with world flavor and various ingredients to ease off the late night dorm-room insomnia.
Anthony Valadez has long been a staple of the Los Angeles airwaves as the founder of Alternalido, KROQ’s first Latin Alternative music program. He also graced the turntables with KCRW for the past 15 years, most recently as the co-host of the station’s flagship program, Morning Becomes Eclectic. On the television front, Valadez hosted 3 seasons of Crate Diggers on Fuse TV where he explored record stores and bins with some of the deepest vinyl collectors across the country. He’s released 3 albums on indie label Plug Research and officially remixed for the likes of Ozomatli, David Bowie and Local Natives. He is currently a mentor at Otis College of Art & Design in the Community Radio Program.
Sounds for Plant Lovers airs Mondays - Thursday nights from 11:00 p.m. to Midnight on Portland’s Jazz Radio, KMHD, 89.1 FM and streaming at KMHD.org.
